Mechanically Minded

Keegan,

I'm on the back porch watching you play while mom cooks dinner.  you like to flip your cars over and spin the wheels.  You also like to get down on all fours, putting your head down to get a ground eye view of things as if you're inspecting them.  Quite entertaining  : )

I wonder what you might become when you grow up.  My money right now is on a musician/farmer...

Love,
Dad

Backyard Teleology

Keegan,

You and I are hanging out on the back deck as I ponder my next post.  You're talking happily in some unknown toddler tongue as you sit contentedly in your "Little Tikes Cozy Coupe" spinning the steering wheel.  Since birth, you've been a fanatic about anything with wheels, and that classic toy car is no exception.  Your mom got it for an astounding $1 at a yard sale.  Surprised you haven't driven if off the side in full tilt yet.  Doubtless, when I try to pull you out of there you're going to give me a piece of your mind...

I love seeing you so happy!

- Dad

Intro

My dear sons Keegan and Rhett,

At the time I am writing this, Keegan, you are almost two years old and, Rhett, you will be born in just a few weeks.  If I had 10,000 years to hold you close to me, it would not be enough.  I love you both with an unstifled passion.  My hope is that our gracious heavenly Father will grant me a long life shared with our family, filled with adventures and abundant with love, joy and peace.

These notes are for if he chooses to bring me home before then.  He has placed in my heart a desire to mentor and encourage you, helping you grow in godly character.  Lord willing, I'll get to do that in person and these will just be, well, an opportunity to organize my thoughts.

I'll attempt to hand down my perspectives on life and anything the Lord places on my heart to share with you.  I am an imperfect man and may even get some of these things wrong, especially when I venture into areas where his word is not clearly laid out for us.  I trust the Lord will guide you too, as he promised, and will help you take away from these notes exactly what you need to.

Be strong.  Be righteous.  Love God and others.

I love you!

- Dad
